The LDSA – The Lincoln and District Sailing Association, a recognised Royal Yachting Association Training Centre - is an association of Lincolnshire schools which exists to promote the sport to students in the county. Manned almost entirely by volunteers, and funded primarily by our students and their schools, the Association owns a fleet of boats operating at Apex Lake in North Hykeham where we are hosted by Hykeham Sailing Club. All schools are welcome to sail with us and although many provide their own fully qualified Senior Instructors, Dinghy Instructors and rescue boat handlers, we do have one part-time Senior Instructor able to cover schools until their own staff are trained.

Supervision and teaching are undertaken by a very experienced mix of teachers, Hykeham Sailing Club members and some of our best students. All are fully qualified RYA Senior Instructors, Dinghy Instructors, Power Boat Instructors or Assistant Instructors.

We prepare many of our sixth formers for instructor qualifications, which they gain before going on to sail at university.  This often leads to holiday employment and the opportunity to earn money teaching sailing.

We run a number of courses throughout the year and income from these helps us to maintain our fleet and continue our work with schools.

If you are interested in anything we offer or would like to help in anyway, please see details elsewhere or feel free to contact me directly. principal@ldsa.org.uk I look forward to seeing you sailing.
