As an RYA Training Centres we have a detailed safety policy and operating procedures. We also have thorough risk assessment for our activities. We follow RYA guidelines on risk assessment that follow HSE and Local Authority advice.
As an RYA Training and RYA OnBoard Centre, the LDSA can offer a wide variety of dinghy sailing and powerboat courses. We teach to The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) standards. We operate our courses in line with RYA ratios. These are a maximum and we may operate to better ratios. We are based at Hykeham Sailing Club, Lincoln. All of courses include a logbook, certification and introductory book in the price.
Our courses include:
RYA Dinghy Beginners’ Learn to sail courses (RYA Level 1-3)
RYA Dinghy Level 1, 2 and 3 in Double Handers 3 students to 1 instructor. Single handers 6 students to 1 instructor. RYA Dinghy Level 1 Duration 16 Hours, RYA Dinghy Level 2 Duration 16 Hours. RYA Dinghy Level 3 - Duration 16 Hours.
RYA Youth Sailing Courses
RYA Youth Sailing Courses in Double Handers 3 students to 1 instructor. Single handers 6 students to 1 instructor. Minimum duration 2 days, often 4 days.
RYA Dinghy Advanced Courses
RYA Seamanship/Spinnakers Duration 16 Hours. Ratio of instructor maximum 9 students to 1 Instructor but no more than 6 boats per instructor.
RYA Powerboat Courses
RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2: 3 students to 1 instructor. Powerboat Level 1 – 1 day, Powerboat Level 2 duration – 2 days.
RYA Safety Boat: 6 students to 1 Instructor (2 Boats) – duration 2 days.
